I looked at many different companies : Pella, Anderson, Marvin, Lowes, Champion, many different types of windows: Vinyl, Fiberglass, Aluminum, Wood and various combinations before I decided on Pella. I compared them on quality, warranty, ease of installation, maintenance required, personal reviews, professional recommendations and BBB ratings.
I had 24 Double Hung ProLine replacement windows, 2 Impervia replacement windows and 1 Full View Fiberglass replacement door. My Pella salesman went over the options, listened to my concerns and took his time to develop the best plan for my house. He also worked with me to help control the costs but still get the best product for my situation. He was courteous and diffidently did not use the hard sale tactic of other companies. The Pella installers were friendly, professional and there were no major problems during the installation. They followed all Pella requirements for a proper installation with Pella authorized materials.
It is the service and warranty after the job is completed that counts. Those little and sometimes big unforeseen problems that take time to pop up after the initial installation. This is where Pella excelled!
I had lots of problems with the Full View Fiberglass door. The Fiberglass shell of the door began to separate from its core shortly after the install. A quick call to Pella and they sent out a Service Tech to confirm the problem and promptly order a replacement door. For the next 2 years they replaced that same door 5 times at no cost to me. With each replacement they looked for different reasons that was causing the reoccurring problem: possible bad adhesive from the factory, improper installation, weather issues and location issues. Finally they upgraded the door to a Deluxe Fiberglass model and solved all the problems. The door has had no problems in 6 months.
I had a different problem with one of the windows 18 months after the installation. It appeared to have shifted inward and the inside wood frame developed a crack. Again a quick contact with Pella, the Service Tech ordered and installed a complete new window at no cost to me.
All new and replacement installations can have problems and it is the willingness of a company like Pella to stand behind their products that has me recommending them to anyone who asks. They may be a little more expensive but they stand behind the quality of their products, the work of their Technicians and Installers.
I have 6 more windows and a double door in my basement that will need to be replaced in time and they will be Pella!
Well Done Pella!
